Kokomo Grand Prix Changes to Saturday-Sunday!

The “Kokomo Grand Prix” has been switched to Saturday and Sunday at the Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway.

Track, USAC and Powri officials have agreed to move the 2-night USAC/Powri National Midget event back a day to create a more acceptable weather scenario, based on expected heavy rains and cold temperatures the next two nights. Rain is forecast for 100 percent Thursday and the night-time temperatures Thursday and Friday are projected near freezing, while Saturday and Sunday temperatures are expected to rise.

“We want to create the most enjoyable experience for our participants and race fans,” say the O’Connor Family, Kokomo’s race organizers, who felt announcing this at the earliest possible moment would provide the ample time for all to adjust their calendars.

The USAC and Powri National Midgets, USAC Midwest Dirt Ignite Midgets and Powri 600cc Outlaw Micros will share the two-night “tripleheader” at the one-third mile dirt oval.

Times for Saturday remain as originally announced, with pit gates at 2 pm, spectator gates at 4 and practice at 6, while Sunday’s timetable will be announced soon.

Saturday’s Midget feature will be a 30-lapper, while a 40-lapper caps Sunday’s Midget action.
