Marcos Ambrose on pole for Sprint Cup 28th Annual Cheez-It 355 at The Glen

Marcos Ambrose scored his third career Sprint Cup pole by taking the Stanley Ford to the top of the pylon Saturday at Watkins Glen. He's hoping to take home his third career win and third consecutive win at the New York road course.

The Tasmanian Devil, who was part of last season's epic last-lap battle with Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch, bumped Clint Bowyer off of the provisional pole. Bowyer starts second, with teammate Martin Truex, Jr. rolling off third.

AJ Allmendinger was a little disappointed in his lap, but his fourth-place starting slot is the best for JTG Daugherty since Ambrose's outside pole at Martinsville in 2010.

Kyle Busch wound up with a fifth-place starting spot, making it four Toyotas in the top five.

Filling in for the injured Tony Stewart, Max Papis starts the No. 14 from 29th.

Coverage for the 1 p.m. NSCS: Cheez-It 355 at The Glen runs on ESPN, with the green flag flying at 1:19 p.m..
