Set in the Irish Hills of Brooklyn, Mich., Michigan International Speedway hosts the Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series this weekend, Friday through Sunday, Aug. 16-18. MIS is set to offer fans plenty of action on and off the track, including a fishing competition, a county music concert and the kickoff of a new television network.
The fourth annual Fish Your Bass Off competition returns to Wamplers Lake, located a short distance from the speedway, on Thursday, Aug. 15. The event, which benefits MIS Cares, features the team of Ryan Newman and No. 1-ranked bass fisherman Kevin Van Dam against 30 other teams. Fans can check out the weigh-in and take part in live and silent auctions beginning at 6 p.m. ET at Jerry’s Pub and Restaurant on Wamplers Lake. Tickets are $40 and doors open at 5 p.m. ET. Country music fans can check out the Budweiser Acceleration Concert on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the conclusion of the Camping World Truck Series race. Performing at the show will be Keith Anderson, Drake White and The Big Fire and Tim Dugger. The concert is free to anyone with a Saturday admission ticket.
Also taking place on Saturday, MIS helps kick off the new FOX Sports 1 television channel (formerly SPEED Channel) at 8 a.m. ET. FOX on-air talent will be at the speedway throughout the weekend signing autographs.
