Friday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Qualifying underwent its new form, “knockout qualifying,” at Phoenix Raceway. There are two rounds in the new qualifying. In the first round, the fastest 12 drivers advance to the final round, the pole round. The fastest driver of round two goes on to win the pole. The rest of the field is set up by how they finished in the last round.

It’s going to be a Penske Racing front row for Sunday's race, with Brad Keselowski breaking last year’s track record with a speed of 139.384 mph. Teammate Joey Logano will line up on the outside pole.
