Sheldon Creed earned his first career Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series victory on Saturday evening, after the event was called short due to inclement weather at Kentucky Speedway.
Creed led a total of 20 laps during the Buckle Up In Your Truck 225 and was leading on Lap 71 when the event was called due to lightning in the area.
“It feels awesome. I’d really like to have finished that out and get the real checkered flag,” Creed said, “Really wish I could have gotten to the finish line and finished that out right, but I’ll take this win.”
Kentucky native Ben Rhodes finished second, followed by Matt Crafton, Johnny Sauter, and Austin Hill.
Christian Eckes finished sixth. Zane Smith, who earned his first career stage win during Stage 1, finished seventh. Derek Kraus was eighth, while Tanner Gray and Todd Gilliland rounded out the top 10.
Spencer Boyd finished 38th out of a 40-truck field after his engine blew on the first lap.
Codie Rohrbaugh spun on Lap 14 after getting loose and hitting the wall in Turn 1. He finished 39th. Rohrbaugh was carrying a special paint scheme for Joshua Shirk, an eight-year-old who was injured while kayaking with his family in West Virginia.
