Hailie Deegan is planning to make her Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series debut on October 17th at Kansas Speedway, driving the No. 17 DGR-Crosley Ford. It will be her first career start in a national NASCAR-sanctioned event.

Deegan is in the middle of her rookie season in the ARCA Menard’s Series, where she is currently ranked third in the standings – 61 points behind Alabama native Bret Holmes. Deegan has earned four top-five finishes and 16 top-10 finishes throughout 19 races in 2020.

Deegan scored three victories in what is now the ARCA Menard’s Series West, formally known as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. The 19-year-old is the second woman to win a NASCAR-sanctioned race, following Shawna Robinson in June of 1988.

“Honestly, I wasn’t really planning on running trucks this year,” Deegan said on social media. “But in order for me to qualify for the races I want to run in the future I have to run this race. It’s definitely going to be hard, it’s going to be challenging. I think our goal is to finish the race.”

The series event at Kansas is scheduled for 4 p.m./ET next Saturday on FOX.
