NASCAR Returns to Nashville

It’s been almost four decades since the NASCAR Cup Series raced in Music City, but thanks to the hard work of new track president, Erik Moses, and his incredible team, cars were back on the 1.33-mile concrete oval over Father’s Day weekend.

Moses told members of the media on Saturday that there’s been an $8-10 million dollar investment in the track in recent months. NASCAR added the long-dormant Nashville track to the series schedule in January, so most of the renovations have been completed since the start of the year. Some of those changes include a new fiber optic network and Wi-Fi to make communications easier for track patrons. They also upgraded the tower suites and the media center.

Ally Financial joined as the title sponsor for Nashville’s Cup Series race. Andrea Brimmer, Ally chief marketing and public relations officer, joined Alex Bowman, driver of the No. 48 Ally Chevrolet to talk about their partnership.

Brimmer explained why Ally chose Nashville’s re-entry race as its foray into title sponsorship.

“We wanted to be part of growing the NASCAR footprint here. We’re proud of Alex, and we’re especially proud to be in Nashville and part of this growing city,” Brimmer explained.

Bowman expressed his satisfaction with his car sponsor, saying, “Ally is the best partner ever!” The driver with two wins this season was beaming as he noted that it’s “a great time to part of Hendrick Motorsports.” Bowman boosted his relationship with the team, having just signed a two-year contract extension earlier in the week.

He remarked, “It’s been really cool… looking forward to the next couple of years. It’s just an honor to keep driving for HMS.”
