Trackin’ Trucks: Ryan Preece Wins at Nashville
Ryan Preece earned his first Camping World Truck Series victory on Friday night at Nashville Superspeedway. Preece passed Grant Enfinger with seven laps to go in the Rackley Roofing 200.
The win comes in Preece’s first series start.
“That was a lot of fun,” Preece said. “Really I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know anything.”
“I was just taking the guidance from (crew chief) Chad (Johnston) and my teammates and told them I’d be better in the race than I was in qualifying and practice. And fortunately, I lived up to that.”
Todd Gilliland, who rallied from having to start at the back of the field due to failing pre-race inspection, finished second.
Enfinger finished third, followed by Zane Smith and Stewart Friesen.
Matt Crafton finished sixth, Ben Rhodes finished seventh, while Ty Majeski, Austin Hill, and John Hunter Nemechek rounded out the top 10.
Preece was one of three full-time NASCAR Cup Series drivers entered in Friday’s event, which was the first at the track in a decade. Ross Chastain finished 22nd for Niece Motorsports while William Byron finished last.
Byron’s day ended at the end of Stage 1 after his Chevrolet experienced motor problems.
Derek Kraus finished 35th after hitting the wall with just 40 laps to go. Kraus led 48 and earned the Stage 1 victory laps after earning the Pole for the event.
A Look Ahead
The Camping World Truck Series head to Pocono Raceway on June 26th for the CRC Brakleen 150.
John Hunter Nemechek remains the points leader after finishing 10th, 78 points ahead of two-time race winner this season, Ben Rhodes.
With three races remaining in the regular season, Chandler Smith sits in the final playoff transfer position, 15 points ahead of former series champion Johnny Sauter. Smith finished 13th on Friday, while Sauter finished 12th.
