As NASCAR's Silly Season continues, it was announced today that Ross Chastain will be driving the second Cup car for Trackhouse Racing in 2022.  Chastain has over 100 NASCAR Cup Series starts with various teams and is currently in his fourth year driving the series full-time.

Said Chastain on Twitter: "Days like today are what dreams are made of, and I cannot wait to climb behind the wheel of the No. 1 Team Trackhouse Chevrolet starting at the 2022 Daytona 500!"

Trackhouse is only in its second year in the Cup series. In 2021, they are running Daniel Suarez in the No. 99. Suarez is having a solid season, with an average finish just under 20th in all races so far this year, including three top 10s, and one top 5.

Suarez said, “I am very happy with the selection of Ross as a teammate next year. He brings a lot to the table. I am looking forward to start working with him and making our two Trackhouse cars as fast as possible. I know we are going to win races.”

Chastain (called the "Melon Man" because his family has a long history of watermelon farming) is currently driving the No. 42 for Chip Ganassi Racing. His future was currently uncertain because Ganassi's Cup organization was unexpectedly purchased by Trackhouse last month.

Trackhouse Racing, formed in 2020, is owned by Justin Marks and Pitbull, the world-famous entertainer.

Sponsors for Chastain were not immediately announced.

As of this writing, veteran drivers still lacking a ride for 2022 include Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman and Matt DiBenedetto.
