Severe weather cancels final Cup practice, postpones ARCA race (UPDATED)

Severe weather caused Talladega Superspeedway to cancel the rest of Friday's activities.

A tornado warning was in effect for Talladega County until 7:15 p.m. ET Friday, then was extended to 8 p.m. Initially the speedway was not included in the warning, but that was later amended. The high winds and heavy rains spurred many drivers and their families to seek shelter at the track's media center. Fans staying at the track reported minor flooding via Twitter and Facebook, but according to the Associated Press, there was no serious damage.

Final Sprint Cup practice was rained out Friday afternoon after just 11 cars hit the track. After severe weather was forecast in the area, the decision was made to postpone Friday's ARCA race, the 3 Amigos 250, to Saturday at 9 a.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED.

NASCAR's schedule remains the same for Saturday, with Sprint Cup qualifying at 11:35 a.m. ET and the Aaron's 312 Nationwide race at 3 p.m. ET.

Any race fan with a Friday or Saturday ticket will be granted admission for all of Saturday's activities. Grandstand gates will open at 8 a.m. ET.
